Brides & Wedding Spray Tan FAQ
-
This is probably the number one question I get from brides, and the timing really does make a difference.
If your wedding is on Saturday, you'll usually want to come see me on Thursday. You'll leave your appointment glowing (and probably a little darker than expected because of the cosmetic bronzer), rinse at the recommended time, and by Saturday your colour will have settled into a beautiful, natural-looking tan.
The goal isn't for people to notice your spray tan.
The goal is for people to tell you how incredible you look.
I always customize your colour based on your skin tone, dress colour, wedding season, and how you want to look in professional photos.
Wyld Sol Pro Tip
Never schedule your first-ever spray tan right before your wedding. A trial tan a few weeks before gives us a chance to perfect your colour so there's zero guesswork on your big day.

Think of your spray tan like your hair and makeup trial.
Could you skip it?
Sure.
Would I recommend it?
Not if I can help it.
Every person's skin develops differently. Your undertones, skincare routine, hydration, and even your daily habits all play a role in how your tan develops.
A trial appointment lets us answer questions like:
• Do you prefer a lighter glow or a deeper bronze?
• Do you want more warmth or an olive finish?
• How does your skin hold color?
• How long does your tan last? When your wedding week arrives, there's no stress because we've already figured everything out together.
Wyld Sol Pro Tip
Book your trial about 4 to 6 weeks before your wedding. It's close enough that your skin will be similar but gives us plenty of time to make any adjustments if needed.

I completely understand why this worries brides.
Here's the good news.
The bronzer you leave with isn't your actual tan. It's simply a guide colour that helps me apply your tan evenly.
Once you've rinsed at the recommended time, most of that cosmetic bronzer washes away, leaving behind the developed tan in your skin.
By the time you slip into your wedding dress, your tan should feel completely dry and natural.
That said, I'd still recommend avoiding body oils, heavy lotions, and getting dressed too early if you've just finished getting ready.
Wyld Sol Pro Tip
Always wear a loose button-up shirt while getting your hair and makeup done. It keeps your tan looking beautiful and saves you from pulling clothing over your head.

This is one of those little details that can make a big difference in your final results.
Sugaring gently removes the hair from the root, which means your hair follicles stay open for a short period afterward. If you apply a spray tan too soon, the tanning solution can settle into those open follicles, creating tiny dark dots across the skin. We call this the "polka dot effect," and while it's temporary, it's definitely something we'd rather avoid.
By waiting 24 hours, your skin has time to calm down, your follicles can close, and your spray tan will apply much more evenly.
If you're planning for a wedding, vacation, photoshoot, or another special event, I always recommend scheduling your sugaring appointment first, then booking your spray tan the following day. This simple timeline helps ensure your skin is smooth, your tan develops beautifully, and you're looking your absolute best.

For brides and special events, here's the timeline I recommend:
48 hours before your event: Body sugaring appointment
24 hours before your event: Custom spray tan
This gives your skin enough time to recover from sugaring while allowing your spray tan to develop into a flawless, natural-looking glow.

Wedding week can feel like a giant game of Tetris with all your beauty appointments. My advice? Leave your spray tan until one of the last appointments on your schedule.
If you're getting your hair coloured, washed, or even just a blowout, there's a good chance water, shampoo, conditioner, or styling products will come into contact with your skin. That can interfere with your developing tan or cause it to fade unevenly.
Your spray tan should be one of the final beauty appointments before your wedding so you're walking into your big day with fresh, even colour.

Foundation, moisturizer, sunscreen, deodorant, perfume...they all create a barrier on your skin.
When that happens, your spray tan may not absorb evenly, leaving lighter patches or streaks.
I always recommend arriving with freshly cleansed skin and no products on the areas being sprayed. If you're coming straight from work, don't worry! Just let me know and we'll do our best to prep your skin before your appointment.
Wyld Sol Pro Tip
Bring a small makeup bag if you're heading somewhere after your appointment so you can touch up your face once your tan is complete.

This is one of those little details that can make a big difference in how your spray tan develops.
Most manicure and pedicure appointments include soaking, exfoliating, cuticle oils, massage creams, and rich moisturizers. While they leave your skin feeling amazing, those products can create a barrier that prevents your spray tan from developing evenly.
Even if your nail appointment is before your tan, I don't recommend scheduling them on the same day. The lotions and oils used during your service can linger on your skin, even after washing, which may lead to patchy or uneven color.
For the best results, plan your manicure and pedicure at least 24 hours before your spray tan. This gives your skin time to absorb any products, and you'll arrive with clean, dry skin that's ready for an even, flawless application.
If you absolutely need your nails done after your spray tan, let your nail technician know you've recently been sprayed. Ask them to avoid soaking, exfoliating, scrubbing, massage lotions, or cuticle oils on exposed skin whenever possible to help preserve your tan.

My favorite wedding beauty timeline looks like this:
✔️ Hair color (if needed)
✔️ Sugaring (48 hours before your event)
✔️ Manicure & pedicure (24 hours before your spray tan)
✔️ Spray tan (24 hours after sugaring and 24 to 48 hours before your event)
✔️ Hair styling & makeup on your wedding dayFollowing this timeline helps every appointment work together, giving you smooth skin, an even tan, and a natural, photo-ready glow you'll love from the first look to the last dance.
